INTRODUCTION: Who is Preparation Films? What do we provide?
Preparation Films is a film production company with a mission to produce entertaining, engaging, thought-provoking media that is socially, economically and spiritually beneficial to its viewers. Imagine The Discover Channel, Disney, HBO, TBN and HGTV all wrapped into one company and all for your movie screen.
MARKET NEED: What is the sacrifice associated with this opportunity? How is it being addressed in the market today?
Producing these types of films will require the strength, courage and willingness to be leaders in an industry that finds comfort in following. Practically speaking, this means putting time, energy, and funding into financially viable and commercially marketable “Hope” films.
Many films strive for vision and originality but leave the well-being of the audience up to unintentional consequence. At Preparation Films we believe that we can maintain a production studio that generates profit while at the same time edifying the minds of those who view our films.
People have been searching for something more than they have been given. They have been searching for hope. No longer is it okay to thoughtlessly absorb movies that leave teenage sons glorifying bullets and drugs instead valor and leadership, and young daughters dreaming of being sex symbols more than women of noble character. These issues have not earnestly been addressed in the film industry in the past. We are addressing them now. It has been said that the time for change has come to America. That change has come in the form of hope and we look forward to that hopes expression with desire and reasonable confidence of its conclusion.
COMPANY OVERVIEW: How does Preparation Films address this opportunity better than anyone else? What is our unique niche in the market?Preparation Films caters to a very discriminating clientele: those who seek hope and a future. With wise counsel, an expertly trained and innovative production team and keen, visionary investors who are beginning to realize that there is an untapped market in the ‘Hope’ genre, Preparation Films is more than capable of staying on the fore-front of this movement. What is our market niche? We deal exclusively in engaging media that educates while it entertains. For Preparation Films every production is centered around a betterment in the livelihood of the persons watching it.
PRODUCT/SERVICE: What do we sell?
Not only does Preparation Films produce its own projects, we offer a host of film and music video producing services. From pre-production to production and post-production we provide assistance at any stage, be it beginning to end or just one aspect of the project. Preparation Films is a production studio with a vision for the future and we complete each project to the complete satisfaction of the client, with the complete satisfaction of the audience in mind.
COMPETITION: Who else is providing solutions to this problem? Where do we rank amongst them? How are we unique?
With the appropriate financing Preparation Films, based in Chicago, Illinois, is well-able to produce profitable and principled films for our audiences. There are currently very few production companies with a mission to make films that are only ever beneficial to those who view them. A small number of studios such as Metanoia Films (Bella) based in Los Angeles, California, and Sherwood Pictures (Facing The Giants; Fireproof) in Albany, Georgia, are dedicated to doing just that and they are succeeding. We view this, however, not as competition, but as co-laboring to pave the way towards an expected end. That end is not to be the only company with a commitment to the well-being of its audience, but rather to create and capitalize on such a demand for ‘Hope’ that the industry standard must shift to deliver it.Our uniqueness resides not only in our mission but in our team as well. Each division of the company and every individual that works with and for Preparation Films has an understanding of the underlying values that we work hard to instill in every project. We are all united towards the common goal of entertainment, excellence and edification which comes across in every project.
SALES AND MARKETING: What is Preparation Films go-to-market strategy? How will we drive revenues? How will we reach our customers and convince them to buy?Preparation Films’ overall marketing strategy is quite simple: produce quality, principled films and do this consistently.
Audiences eagerly anticipate sitting in a darkened theater, eating their popcorn and being able to escape into a world that is not their own for two or three hours. Be it by comedy, someone else's drama, vicarious romance, a breath catching thriller or the possibility of hope there is the potential, every time you step up to see the previously unseen movie, to lose yourself in the greatest film of all time! It is the same potential found in a blank sheet of paper. Absolutely anything can be put on it. Will this be a movie you will remember for the rest of your life? Will it make you laugh although you've cried for two weeks straight; will it give you the courage to go after the girl; will it renew your faith in love; will it keep you from making the biggest mistake of your life; will it give you one more thing to talk about with a teenager who never wants to talk; will it make you a better person? Maybe not...but what if it does? Maybe all it will do is allow you to stop thinking about yourself for a while, to come out of your own issues of life and relax for just a moment before you have to dive back in. Who knows what could happen?
All we know for sure is that all of that potential is wrapped up into every movie every time a person goes to experience it for the first time. But what makes a customer willing to place so much hope in something they had no hand in making? In a project they really know nothing about? It is in the trailer. It is in giving the potential audience just enough information to pull them in without giving it all away. The trailer creates a tension in the customer that makes them hunger to see what could happen. To find out if they can really be taken to the ends of the earth by celluloid and a wide screen.
The customer has no way of knowing if the film will live up to the standards that have been set by the trailers they view, or if the film may perhaps surpass those standards. The only thing they have to go off of is the product itself, after they’ve paid their money. That is, until the production company builds a reputation for creating the type of media that audience’s are looking to see. That reputation can come from one good film, if a big name is attached to the company, or after a few good films that consistently show the company’s ability to meet and/or surpass expectations. When this happens a built in market base is created. Customers become more confident of that company’s ability to produce a quality product and therefore are more likely, on any given weekend, to see the film because it has a recognizable and reputable name associated with it.
With very few companies who have a target market matching our own we already stand out. Because there is a substantial desire for media that has a ‘hope’ message, Preparation Films is well positioned to lead in this market area. Our customers will not only recognize but be drawn in by the fact that we produce and release every product with their well-being in mind. As we build upon an already developing body of work, Preparation Films will also be confirming our reputation as a film production company that cares about the eternal welfare of our clients.
LEADERSHIP: Who heads Preparation Films and what is their relevant experience?
Kristina M. Dawkins – Owner, Operations Manager.
Ms. Dawkins has worked in the film industry for over 10 years and has received her degree in Film/Video, concentrating in directing, from Columbia College Chicago. With time spent working in Los Angeles and Chicago, Ms. Dawkins has gained a large knowledge base of the film business that enables her to effectively manage Preparation Films as its head.
Along with her connections and understanding of the film and television industries, Ms. Dawkins has also benefited from working relationships with several organizations and individuals in the business arena. This has created a credible and trustworthy source of wise counsel and support that continues to significantly and critically improve upon the success viability of Preparation Films.
FINANCIAL REQUEST: If Preparation Films asked for more money, could we scale faster and become profitable sooner?Yes. More money invested equates to better equipment overall, which equals a higher level of production quality, and faster turnover rates per project. It also means a larger advertising budget which has been proven to directly relate to the profitability of a given film.
When a film can be advertised broadly the recognition of that film and production team increases, thereby making it easier for that project and subsequent projects by that same team to be more widely accepted and distributed (shown on more screens). The more screens a film is shown on, the broader the scope of the audience who has an opportunity to see the film.
SOURCES AND USES: How will Preparation Films use the new funding? All new funding for Preparation Films is used at the discretion of the company itself unless otherwise specified by the sponsor.
